The Work Behind the Perspective

I do not write about healthcare transformation
from the outside.

I do not write about healthcare transformation
from the outside.

I lead it inside one of the largest public health systems in California, where technology decisions carry operational, clinical, ethical, and financial consequences at scale. Over the past two decades, I have led large-scale hospital integrations, Epic transformations, cybersecurity modernization, AI governance programs, and enterprise technology initiatives under conditions where failure was not theoretical.

That operating reality shapes everything I write, teach, and advise on today.

I lead it inside one of the largest public health systems in California, where technology decisions carry operational, clinical, ethical, and financial consequences at scale. Defining Pillar

AI Governance and
Standards Leadership

As Head of Standards Operationalization at the Trustworthy Technology and Innovation Consortium (TTIC), I help operationalize emerging frameworks for clinical AI governance, including IEEE UL 2933.

My work focuses on the practical reality of responsible AI deployment inside healthcare institutions: not theoretical ethics alone, but governance systems that can survive operational pressure, regulatory scrutiny, and clinical complexity.

Inside the health

As co-chair of the Clinical AI Review Committee, evaluating AI vendors, reviewing deployments, and building the institutional muscle to govern intelligent systems at scale.

At TTIC, helping translate IEEE UL 2933 and adjacent standards into artifacts that health system CIOs and CMIOs can actually deploy.

Most AI strategies are written to be defended in a board meeting. The better ones are written to survive a clinical incident.

The Denominator Problem

Every AI metric reported in healthcare is meaningless without the denominator. The denominator is where the truth lives.
